Before settling into the classrooms and libraries for the Fall 2016 semester, West Virginia University students took to the streets…with volunteerism and beautification on their minds.

Several of the 5,200 new Mountaineer students gave back to the local community as soon as they arrived at their new home.

Among the community service projects during Welcome Week 2016 included filling backpacks for children experiencing food insecurity, cleaning up playgrounds and neighborhoods, and clearing out hiking trails.
